Each country or issue portal is run by a Portal Enabling Group (PEG) made up of a range of active and willing participants across the sectors: governments, UN agencies, industry sector associations, civil society and business.

Each PEG uses its members' local connections and influence on the ground to find information and resources which it then uploads to Partnerships Central to be shared with the rest of the world. Simultaneously, the PEG distributes and disseminates information and provides services directly to stakeholders, often their own members. By centralizing their connections and contacts, each PEG is also positioned to help bring potential partners together, and facilitate new partnerships.

Each PEG will physically meet only once or twice a year, but will keep in close contact via the internet. The activities of the PEG will be coordinated by a full-time portal manager and will include:

  • Providing direction and content for the portal (identifying priority issue areas, relevant news, research articles, funding sources etc.)

  • Distributing information out to constituents on the ground

  • Assisting in making contacts between potential partners

  • Submitting and encouraging others to submit partnerships to the project showcase

  • Helping to ensure the accuracy of information and the quality of projects appearing in the showcase

  • Identifying examples of good practice for more extensive case studies and news stories

  • Promoting the portal and speaking on behalf of Partnerships Central and the portal activities at seminars/conferences

  • Determining additional sources of financial support

  • Publicize in-country workshops and training and engage participants
If your organisation would be interested in become a member of a PEG, or in starting up a new portal, please contact pegs@partnershipscentral.org.
